Windows Live Mail

Set up POP in mail clients

If you're not using one of the clients or devices above, we offer general instructions on configuring some clients below.

Standard configuration instructions:

Incoming Mail (POP3)
Server - requires SSL:
pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
Server - requires TLS or SSL:
smtp.gmail.com
Use Authentication: Yes
Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
Port for SSL: 465
Server timeouts Greater than 1 minute, we recommend 5
Full Name or Display Name: [your name] ex. John Smith
Account Name or User Name: your full email address (johnsmith@bspeedy.com)
Email Address: your email address (johnsmith@bspeedy.com)
Password: your password
Outlook Express
  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click the "Tools" menu and select Accounts


  3. Click Add, then choose Mail


  4. Enter Your Name in the "Display Name" field and click next


  5. Enter your full email address (username@bspeedy.com) in the "Email Address Field" and click Next


  6. For 'My incoming mail server is a ______ server', please select POP3 in the drop-down menu.
  7. Enter "pop.gmail.com" in the 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server' field.
  8. Enter "smtp.gmail.com" in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server' field.
  9. Click Next


  10. Enter your email address in the "Account Name" field.
  11. Enter your password in the "Password" field.


  12. Click Next
  13. Click Finish


 
Outlook 2003
  1. Open Outlook 2003
  2. Click the "Tools" menu, and select E-mail Accounts


  3. Click "Add a new e-mail account", then click Next


  4. Choose POP3 as your server type


  5. On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3/IMAP) window, enter your information as follows:
    Your Name
    Your first and last name.
    E-mail Address
    username@bspeedy.com
    User Name
    username@bspeedy.com
    Password
    Your email account password.
    Check "remember password"
    Incoming mail server (POP3)
    pop.gmail.com
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
    smtp.gmail.com
  6. Click "Test Account Settings"


  7. Click Next


  8. Click Finish
 
Outlook 2007
  1. Open Outlook 2007
  2. Click on Accounts
  3. Choose Add New Email Account
  4. Enter your Name, Email Address, and Password
  5. Check "Manualy Configure Server Settings or additional server types"
  6. Click Next


  7. On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3/IMAP) window, enter your information as follows:
    Your Name
    Your first and last name.
    E-mail Address
    username@bspeedy.com
    User Name
    username@bspeedy.com
    Password
    Your email account password.
    Check "remember password"
    Incoming mail server (POP3)
    pop.gmail.com
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
    smtp.gmail.com
  8. Click "Test Account Settings"


 
Windows Mail
  1. Open Windows Mail
  2. Click Tools > Accounts > Add
  3. Chose E-Mail Account
  4. Click Next
  5. Enter the name you want people to see you as
  6. Click Next


  7. Enter you Bspeedy E-mail Address and click Next


  8. On the "Set up e-mail servers" page, Enter the following:
    Incoming e-mail server type: POP3
    Incoming mail (POP# or IMAP) server: pop.gmail.com
    Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name: smtp.gmail.com
    Do NOT check "Outgoing server requires authentification"
    Click Next


  9. Enter your username and password


  10. Click Next
  11. Chose Finish
Windows Live Mail
  1. Open Windows Live Mail
  2. Click Add e-mail account in the left pane
  3. Enter your Bspeedy e-mail address
  4. Enter Bspeedy password
  5. Enter the Name you want people to see you as
  6. Check "Manually configure server settings for e-mail account"
  7. Click Next

  8. Enter the following information as shown:
    Incoming Server: pop.gmail.com
    port: 995
    Log on using "Clear text authentification
    Login ID: enter your bspeedy email address
    Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 465
  9. Click Next



  10. Click Finish
